Patience is not one of Eddie Royal’s virtues.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in 3 1/2 years, and he darted up the depth chart after the Denver Broncos selected him in the second round of the NFL draft.
In minicamp, he started out in the slot position but quickly learned to play flanker and split end, too. A week into training camp he surpassed free agents Darrell Jackson and Keary Colbert to earn a starting job opposite playmaker Brandon Marshall.
Starting is one thing for a rookie. Starring is quite another.
Royal caught nine passes for 146 yards in his dramatic debut, the best introduction by a Broncos rookie receiver since Rick Upchurch’s 153-yard performance against Kansas City in 1975.

So I realize that everyone out there was just as shocked as I to see one Giant fall and an old possibly emerge(Strahan) from a Trip to Greece for a 1yr deal reported to be 8 million plus. O.C. drops for the season and the Tisch family is on the horn trying to bait the old horse with the dangeling of an 8 million dollar carrot. I say “Hell Yes!” The Giants road this horse to the Superbowl last year and they can ride his ass to at lest the playoffs again.Â

Lets face it Jets fans had their prayers answered when Brett Favre said “Yes”. Listening to WFAN the local A.M. radio station over the past week hundreds of callers dialed in to the Crain and Boomer show with pleads to the NY Jets owners to do what it takes to get the Arm of Steal from the cheese head nation. Craig Carton and his rat pack of hundreds along with trusty bull horn in hand somehow managed to get the Jets to open up the purse strings and GET BRETT. However sitting in the local old school barber shop where men still talk sports and women the crying of the Jets fans just would not let up. It was quite evident that Chad had the arm of a 60 year old and now that they have Brett they are worried about him getting hurt, or how many pics he is going to throw…….I think for once the faithful Jets fans need to man up and get behind their new leader and let him hear your praises until he fails, lets face it with his number of games played all that he as brought to the sport you at least owe him a chance.Â

Chad Pennington, cut by the New York Jets after they signed Brett Favre, signed with the Miami Dolphins on Friday.
The 32-year-old Pennington, expected to be the starting quarterback for Miami, agreed to the deal Friday worth $11.5 million over two years, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the move hasn’t been officially announced.

Jaguars receiver Reggie Williams will have arthroscopic surgery after re-injuring his right knee during training camp, the third setback in two weeks for Jacksonville. Williams initially hurt his knee while working out last week and opened camp on the physically unable to perform list. He was activated Tuesday and returned to practice, but tweaked his knee during the evening session. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Williams damaged cartilage in his knee. He expected the former first-round pick to make a full recovery, but declined to offer a timetable for his return.
Willams the ninth overall selection in 2004, Williams had his most productive season last year. Although he caught just 38 passes, he averaged 16.6 yards a catch and had 10 touchdowns.
His injury was the third significant one for the Jaguars in two weeks. Jerry Porter, who signed a six-year, $30 million contract in February to be the team’s No. 1 receiver, had surgery July 18 to repair a torn hamstring and will miss at least the entire preseason.

The New Orleans Saints acquired Jeremy Shockey for a second- and a fifth-round draft pick in 2009. The Saints had been trying since February to acquire the disgruntled New York Giants tight end. First, they offered a second-round pick. Before the draft, they increased the offer to a second- and a fifth-round draft choice, but until a few days before the start of their training camp, the Giants felt he was too valuable to lose.
This should immediatley increase Shockey’s value! Drew Bree’s hasnt had a tight-end since he left the chargers and will make Shockey his favorite target from day one of training camp. Look for Jeremy Shockey to have a huge year.
